Crane continued with Atomic Rooster throughout the 1970s with an ever revolving door line up and played in Dexy's Midnight Runners 1982-1984. Crane had been blighted by mental health issues all of his life and died in 1989. Carl Palmer went on to be one third of Emerson Lake and Palmer who went stellar in the 1970s.
