This version of the Modern Lovers didn't last much longer than after they played Aylesbury. A new version of the Modern Lovers surfaced in 1980 and various versions (with Jonathan Richman the only permanent member) continued until 1986 when the Modern Lovers moniker was put away for good. Richman still records and tours.
