Gong
aside, Steve really made his name as a solo artiste. Steve, by chance
after a cancellation of another gig, played Friars in 1976 and took the
place apart. One year later he returned, selling out instantly with
tickets changing hands for ten times their face value. He came back in
1978 and was awarded the prestigious Friars Aylesbury Cup. Only one thing
to add to that........step forward Mr Hillage, Friars Hero.
