The webmaster, north Bucks:

One of the best party nights ever. The band were over here on a loss making promotional tour not shifting tickets generally then I’m a Wonderful Thing took off and hey ho, one very full Friars. I also remember seeing Data who were one half of Sailor. As for KC, we got 2.5hrs of non-stop party vibes and the extended set was down to the fact that by co-incidence they had a big ITV special the same night they played Friars.

August Darnell said that rather than rush home to watch them on telly they would play some more! Which they duly did. It was midnight before they finished and at one point we wondered if they ever would leave the stage!

Kid Creole has himself been in many 80s inspired revival shows and toured with the musical Oh What a Night. KC and the Coconuts occasionally still play gigs and have always been a going concern although these days Darnell and Bongo Eddie are the only survivor from the classic line up.....which came back to Friars in 2009 and played one of the best Friars gigs ever.
