think it must have been the 30th Dec '72 gig - I always remember it as
being 'New Year's Eve' celebration, but my memory could be playing me
false - when a large cake was wheeled onto the stage at the crucial moment
only for Peter Gabriel to pop out and wish everyone a Happy New Year.
Someone e-mailed me recently, who mentioned that he came up to buy me a
drink at a bar near The Friars before a gig. He butted in on a
conversation I was having at the time with someone he didn't recognise,
who turned out to be Peter. I think this must have been the same night.
Then again, there's no real way of being sure

Fair play to Mutter for even
remembering this, but it was actually at this June birthday party gig and
indeed Peter Gabriel did jump out of a cake and read "Now we are six"
Stackridge are still going strong in 2010
with mostly the classic line up above. James Warren was part of the Korgis
who had a huge hit with "Everybody's go to learn Sometime"
