The webmaster, north Bucks:

I wanted to see just if the Loudest Band In the World tag held true as well as wanting to see Motorhead do some fine stuff. I also decided it would be dead clever (along with a mate) to stand in front of the PA with my head practically resting inside one of the cabinets in the hope I would actually be deafened. I was disappointed this didn’t happen (although ears my rang like hell afterwards) and that The Clash earlier in 1980 were even louder.

Also if I hadn’t have been standing in such a stupid place (I was unlucky though), I may not have been hit by flying shrapnel from the initial explosion of their Bomber lighting rig. I thought I was imagining it until I sat in the bar and felt a lump on my head which by the end of the evening started to resemble an egg. We didn’t have compensation culture in those days…..not that I would have, it’s not the way we thought then!

Motorhead were still packing halls in 2015 but the band ended with Lemmy's untimely death in December 2015. Phil Taylor also died in 2015
